Major Russian Assaults Cut Power Throughout Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
The country's power facilities have faced increased attacks in the past few days

Overnight, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have led to power cuts in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Nine people were wounded while residents in the city's east were experienced blackouts and faced interruptions to water systems, as stated by local authorities.

Simultaneously, a minor was fatally injured in a different Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southern area, as reported by regional authorities.

Moscow has increased attacks on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "substantial measures" from partner nations to exert influence on Moscow.

"The necessity is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the United States, Europe and the G7 - in delivering air defence systems and applying restrictions," mentioned in a online statement.

Authorities reported that numerous aerial vehicles and several dozen rockets attacked energy facilities, characterizing such assaults as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as winter approaches.

The energy minister said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were laboring to repair systems.

A barrage of missiles struck power facilities and residential structures in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the strikes on the city have been hospitalized, according to local officials.

Local officials said the urban area endured heavy assaults during nighttime hours. A young boy was killed and multiple civilians were injured.

The strikes come after evenings of bombing campaigns in the region, portions of which are currently controlled by Moscow's military.

The entire country is under warning for advanced weapon attacks, which are harder to identify.

National leaders told the media that Russia was purposely seeking to destroy the country's energy grid, with assaults already impacting fuel infrastructure.

Authorities confirmed energy workers and authorities were bracing for additional strikes.
